Hi, I’m Brenda Diefenderfer, a Christian, small business owner, wife, and Gigi in God’s Backyard- the breathtaking landscape of SW Montana. When I’m not working you’ll find me playing with our dogs, roadtripping to see our kids and grandkids, narrowly avoiding slicing off a finger while unsupervised in the shop, SUPing at the lake, or horseback on a mountain somewhere. I’d like to be your go-to partner for efficient, confidential, reliable management of your business’s bookkeeping needs.
Why Cougar Rock?
I probably should have named my business for any number of references to bookkeeping: balance, ledger, profit, bottom line…you get the idea. But that felt hum-drum. Expected. Boring. And the thing is, business ownership isn’t boring, and I didn’t want my business name to be, either.
The Western States 100 Trail Ride, AKA the Tevis Cup, occurs each summer. One horse, one rider, one hundred miles in 24 hours, traversing the breathtaking peaks and blistering canyons of the mighty Sierra Nevada, and (hopefully) finishing under the Tevis moon. A successful completion earns you a buckle (!!), complete assurance of your will and fortitude, and armed with enough stories to last two lifetimes.
Cougar Rock is a section of steep volcanic rock on that storied trail, and a simple snapshot of you and your horse successfully scaling it is both coveted and priceless. It cannot be bought; it must be earned. I believe it is the perfect metaphor for the challenge of starting up and building your own successful business from scratch.
